SEVENTIES!

The 70’ were characterized by the overpowering desire to be nonconformist, to be outsiders and with a touch of singularity that got lost since the appearance of the first fashion magazines.

The freedom  that was conquered in the preceding period it was also stated on the clothes, the skirts were shortened, the pants were stretch and the patterns were several: flowers, lines, vichy patterns, polka dots and geometries, and all of those were pranks and off beats.

They were the years of the hippy movement, the years of the colors and the flowers on clothes and hairs, they were the years of the girl power, years that still today are back again on the most relevant fashion weeks all over the world.

They were the years when the blazer and the double-breasted were not more exclusively masculine clothes, the years of the bell-bottoms, the years in which everything and really everything was fashion, as long as those were authentic and with a touch of originality!

SIXTIES!

Fashion in the 60′ s was marked by the war in Vietnam, the economic wellness, and also by the first student revolts, in which the way to dress played a fundamental role, taking inspiration from the military uniforms, where the Montgomery was born, or from the American navy, where for the first time the T-shirts appeared.

They were the years of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the years of the trends launched directly by these artists, beloved and imitated in their look from the haircuts to their clothes, from the narrow pants to the mini and stretch jackets in the fashion of military uniforms.

They were the years of the most controversial female stereotype, the fashion icons were Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, Veruska, pale and underweight women. London was the center of style and fashion of that time, and it was right in England that, thanks to Mary Quant, the miniskirt saw the light; the years of the geometric patterns for sweaters, suits, and pants, the years of the colored stockings.

An extraordinarily controversial time, with many different styles, from the sensual and feminine nude look up to the advent of unisex clothes, from the maxi to the mini lengths, where the Pop art and the Optical art achieved great success, it’s still unforgettable the Campbell Soup can printed on clothing by Andy Warhol.

Fashions and trends that have marked sixties even if is away back to 50 year, they signed a great time, a love hard to forget, but rather possible to remind once more, also today.

PREPPY STYLE!

A style of life, a way to be: PREPPY!

It is born in the seventies as an answer to the disorders of Woodstock, inspired by the typical closet of American universities of the Ivy League, a style where good taste is the key to a stylish and simple look. Linearity and lightness for a style never exuberant, among pink, green and blue color patterns; between the basic models we can find pleated skirts, polo shirt, turtle neck sweaters, blazers and ballerinas.

The preppy style is one of the trends of the next warm season, a style that can remind a collegial girl or a golf player, in fact these two kind of personality are the typical example of this Sporty&Chic look, perfect for a simple and elegant girl, a look that you can easily find in one of the most loved American television series: Gossip Girl.

Also VERYSIMPLE doesn’t miss this trend. Discover the collection and the online store to find your PREPPY STYLE!

FIFTIES!

Fifties were characterized by the influence of America, from the way to dance, to dress and to sing and they have arrived in Europe and they have ordered new rules about style. From these years comes Marlon Brando, Elivis Presley, the rock’n’roll and the blue jeans, they were the years of (consumo di massa) and television, fridge and car.

Women dressed from these years new clothes, nothing about their mothers dresses, but they started to follow designers of the moment and their lines that appeared on the first fashion magazines. Paris was the leading city in fashion with her designer Coco Chanel and Christian Dior; Firenze was starting to improve the fashion Italian stage, on 1952 at Pitti palace have been the first of more fashion events and shows with the first steps of Italian designers defined by opposed lines from the French designers, here, most important Italian designers were represented by Emilio Pucci and the Fontana’s sisters.

They were the years of the flared skirt and twin-set, the vichy, polka dots and stripes patterns, they were the years of the femininity and stylishness, they were the years of a past time and recalled by the current fashion as a footprint connected to a beautiful memory that nobody want to forget!

3° Head to Head: Bloggers Vs Gurus

It’s time for the third new head to head, today we are going to know better a fashion blogger and a beauty guru,
we’ll find out more about Sabrina from Freaky Friday’s Blog and Daniela from Ciotolinx channel on Youtube.

INTERVIEW WITH SABRINO MUSCO FROM FREAKY FRIDAY:

Hi Sabrina . Tell us something about you…

My name is Sabrina, I’m 21 and I’m studying Fashion Science at the university of Rome “La Sapienza”. My passions are Fashion, Make Up and everything about art. I also love watching movies and I often go to the cinema.

How is your fashion blog born?

My blog is born in April 2011 , a kind of game, a kind of challenge. During a meeting with Frida Giannoni in my university, some students asked her why today especially the fashion bloggers are having such a great success in this world, and the answer is so simple, because today the web network has a big power , it is the new way of communication and its time for the students to try to discover this kind of new world and enter inside it.

Which is your relationship with fashion?

I love fashion. I follow my instinct, my state of mind and my taste. The trends of the moment can influence me but those don’t shape me. I like to try to enact new trends thinking about what can be good on me.

Which is your unrealized dream?

I have a lot of dreams, more of them achievable other less, but you cannot stop dreaming. You leave them in a drawer until (I hope) one of them might become a real one!

Which style do you prefer?

It’s a difficult question. I love change my hairstyle. I have already colored them from blonde to black and from brown to red. About clothes, lastly I’m attract from different styles, light colors like pale pink, bows, tulle and at the same time black, electric blue and studs.

When you choose your outfit , do you inspire to some stars or designers?

Any star or designer in particular. I take inspiration from an image, an idea, everything that surrounds me can be an inspiration for my outfit or for my pictures.

Apart from fashion, do you follow the beauty and make up world? Do you like it?

I love the make-up world, it is one of my passions. I try to keep me out to date about last products: lipsticks, mascaras or nails polish!

Do you know or do you follow some Beauty Gurus on Youtube? What do you think about this world?

I don’t follow a Youtuber in particular but I like the possibility to clarify any doubts about make-up through Youtube!

Do you know Daniela from Ciottolinx channel? Do you like her?

I saw for the first time her video through the Verysimple Facebook fanpage, I think she is really nice and very good in her job.

Can you give her some fashion advices?

I have noticed that her style is very romantic and bon ton. I would advise her to wear flared skirts in slim colors and soft materials, soft as the tulle and bandaging top and of course high heels!

INTERVIEW WITH DANIELA ZATTON FROM CIOTOLINX:

Hi Daniela, tell us something about you.

I’m 26, I’m studying at the aesthetical academy of my city and this is my second year there. I am authoritative, shy, sweet and extremely latecomer….a lover of the animals and impassioned since when I was a child of wellness and beauty…I have made of my hobby, my job.

How is your Youtube Channel born?

My Youtube Channel is born as a game to participate to a contest announced by a famous guru of the web. As I’ve become more and more impassioned of make-up’s art , so, today it’s me that can give advices founded on my job and on my experience..

Which is your relationship with Beauty?

I never go out without a touch of powder, mascara and gloss that can give me a “Fresh and Relax air” even if I never exaggerate with makeup. Anyway I have discovered that a smile is more important than a beauty aspect made with a makeup….

Do you have an unrealized dream?

Obviusly to create my own beauty center and to specialize myself in beauty and cosmetic surgery like for example the world of half permanent make up, not just to use it for beauty but also to correct blemishes.

Which is your favourite kind of make-up?

I really love the Arabic make up, sophisticated, glamorous and charming.

Do you inspire yourself from some stars or makeup artists when your choose your make up?

Honestly I don’t use to take inspirations from any star. A make up should be carefully prepared and studied according to the regularity or irregularity of the face and above all through the use of lights and darks, and also through the camouflage technique, and you have also to follow Leonardo’s rules. Obviusly, if I have to recreate a star look, I will take an inspiration from the same star…

Apart from the beauty world, do you like fashion?

I love fashion, but sometimes I prefer going against the trend and choose what the most I love or I can wear better, even if a professional Make Up Artist should be know the new trends.

Do you know any Fashion Blogger that give advices about fashion? What do you think about this world?

I usually follow some outfit posted and I like this world. I also like making the same with my videos, I love Similicious86 on Youtube and I think she is really elegant and polished. I love the people who make viedo about outfits because it can be a nice start to recreate different looks for every occasion.

Do you know the Fashion Blogger Sabrina from “Freaky Friday” blog? Do you like her?

I didn’t know her before this interview and I’ve just looked her blog. She is a wonderful girl and she has amazing and beautiful hairs!

Can you give her some make up advices?

To use a natural make up, to emphasize the expression (quite deep and bright) with nude and warm colors, a light countoring and peach lips that can bring out the color of her hairs.

HISTORY OF FASHION: THE 40’ YEARS

These are the years of the second world war, years of great changes, the years where the fashion system lives a true revolution.

The 40′ are characterized by a simple fashion: linear forms, few excesses, practicality and not so elaborate fabrics. The years of Salvatore Ferragamo in Italy, Christian Dior in France, the years of the Pin-Up Girls in the United States.

Immediately after the second world war, the fashion system changes again: the linear forms are still alive, but at the same time,  ample skirts, muffs, precious details appear, and seems like a celebration of the femininity with sinuous tailor’s cut attenuating that rigidity that characterized the previous period.

In the wake of the past trends,  even today the linear lines appear from the forties, the few excesses and the sobriety, sign of s fashion that is born, grows but never dies.

HISTORY OF FASHION: Bon Ton Style!

Bon-Ton style was born between the forties and the fifties, it’s the style of classy, elegant and never vulgar women, it’s the style of “good girls” in opposition to the “bad girls” style, that marked the preceding years.

A plain, refined and never out of line style, no necklines but so much grace and femininity, this is the style of great women of the past as Audrey Hepburn, and of the present as the duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

Which clothes we can consider Bon Ton? Bon Ton is a tweed’s cloth, classic and eternal, a pastel coloured blazer, line cut trench and coats, cocktail dresses, fifties little black dresses, tight and wide skirts above the knee.

On the accessories side, we have decollettes shoes, ankle boots and ballerinas, calf and knee socks, colored and fanciful foulards, maxi dark sunglasses and simple and graceful jewels like pearls.

Bon ton it’s not jeans, exaggerated necklines, short skirts and high heels. But, above all, it’s not bon ton who doesn’t have grace and elegance inside herself, independently from the way she dresses!

A FUNNY COINCIDENCE!

In our company occasions must be celebrated: name-days, birthdays, announcements of marriage, there’s always a good reason to taste every kind of delicacies and toast with some juice.

Yesterday “Saint Elizabeth”, my name-day, so we couldn’t escape this enjoyable ritual!

Everything would have passed unnoticed, filed as any other recurrence, but then me and my colleagues looked at each other and saw that we were wearing the same coat.

This VERYSIMPLE little coat is from 2 season ago, and we renamed it “Pollok” in honor of the famous American painter Jakson Pollock.

This coat is made with a special fabric made of many colored wool threads that are interlaced and this effect gives life to a palette of colors.

You can imagine how fine this coat is, and obviously each of us made some personalization according to the time and the use of it.

However (and yesterday’s event shows it) , all of us still wear it with pride, and personally I’d never find again a cloth  that could give me so many emotions as this coat.

In the picture you can see a testimony of the funny coincidence!

2° HEAD TO HEAD: BLOGGERS VS GURUS

It’s time for a new head to head, today we are going to know better a fashion blogger and a beauty guru,

we’ll find out more about Martina from Glamour Marmalade and Marta from Sweetbeauty1990 .

INETERVIEW WITH MARTINA CANCELLOTTI FROM GLAMOUR MARMALADE:

Tell us about you, age, interests, why did you start a blog?

My name is Martina Cancellotti and I live in Umbria, Italy.  I’m spoiled, capricious and lazy, I’m the oldest of three children even if I act like a baby. I made Glamour Marmalade one year ago and I never thought to have so many satisfactions! Everything was born as a game thanks to a friend of mine showed me this world. Glamour Marmalade is a photo book with thoughts and fashion, is a part of my day and a part of me.

When did your passion start?

I believe that every woman is born with a passion for fashion. I don’t know when was start. The only thing that I remember is that I love shoes because of my grandmother: she has a closet, as long as the whole corridor, full of shoes, rigorously 12 heel , at least 12.

What are your others  hobbies and passions?

Apart from fashion, I love photography, writing, and I also like cinema and theater. But friends comes first!

What’s your unrealized dream?

Only one? I have a hundred dreams! To become a journalist (better a fashion journalist), to always smile and to surround me only with people that make me happy, is the most important thing.

Three must have  for this winter?

Everybody will tell you fur and animalier, but not me. I think you will hardly dare with accessories of this kind (look at the animalier last summer, it’s been seen more on the runway than on the streets!). I’d suggest  a classical jeans for every day (better if old looking), a short dress of lace ( in black or coral red) and absolutely high, very high,  heels. Dare but don’t exaggerate!

Which style do you prefer?

The one that I still have to try, I’m chameleonic, so, I wait for the inspiration and my mood will bring me to revolutionize my style.  The only thing I can say is that I really hate the vulgar, excessive and rough style.

Do you inspire yourself  from some stars or designers when you choose your outfit?

Obviously trends influence me but they are not crucial. I like the simple and sporting style of  Mila Kunis and Joan Small, but Olivia Palermo is inbeatable. I like also the Italians Elisabetta Canalis, Melissa Satta and Belen Rodriguez.

What is fashion?

It’s  excitement, personality, fascination, but especially it’s harmony with yourself.

Apart from fashion, do you follow the beauty and make up world? Do you like it?

Yes I do, The reason? I’m a disaster with make up and I need to see some tutorials, in my opinion make up artist are really artist!

What do you think about Youtube Gurus?

I’m always impressed by this videos, I believe they can help inexpert people (or clumsy like me) to get better at this. Furthermore , I think advices, reviews and tutorials proposed by someone like us, feel more real. Gurus are more friendly than experts, and they talk like the people that are watching them, in a simpler and more natural language.

Bloggers or Gurus? Who’s better? Why?

It’s better any way or tool that can create a conversation with others, that allows to democratize the worlds of fashion, make up and beauty, that sometime are more connected to an elite. Bloggers or Guru? None of the two, I wish for these two world to interact.

Do you know Marta from Sweet Beauty90? What do you think about her make up tutorials? Can you give her some fashion advice?

Sincerely I didn’t know her  before this interview, I started watching tutorials a short time ago and  I have watched her video because of this interview…. She is so clear, you can understand everything, and  she is also so beautiful! My compliments to her for the style and the clarity of the videos…Suggestion from me to her? Could be better the opposite, I would like to contact her even on facebook, there’s a million question I would ask!

The interview is over, one last question, give us 3 words for the VERYSIMPLE F/W Collection?

Determinate, Easy, Fresh.

INTERVIEW WITH MARTA FROM SWEETBEAUTY1990:

Tell us about you, age, interests, why did you start a youtube channel?

My name is Marta, I’m 21 and the next year i will get my bachelor in psychology. I decided to start my own youtube channel to share my passion for makeup and to put myself on the line.

When did your passion start?

I always had a passion for makeup but I started to really care when I was sixteen…before that I just put up a little or no makeup.

What are your others  hobbies and passions?

I love photography, music and kitchen, I love cooking!

Your future plans?

Surely to take my bachelor, then to find a job… I will continue to make video because I love it and I hope to be able to improve day by day.

Have you ever taken make up lessons before starting making videos on youtube?

No, before loading my first video I didn’t even have a eyeshadows palette and I rarely put makeup on my eyes, just mascara… I started to experiment on youtube.

Three Make up must have products for this winter

Surely foundation, applied after a good moisturizing cream, blush to warm up, and mascara to make a magnetic look

Is it better a nude look or an intense look?

Nude look for every day, even if on my video could seems the opposite, usually I like a simple look and I prefer nude makeup, on Saturdays I prefer an intense and sexy smoky look.

Are you inspired by some stars or makeup artist for the choice of your make up tutorials?

I love Giuliana (MakeUpDelight200) she is really good and also very nice, she makes some intense and perfect makeups . For my make up tutorials I’m also inspired by stars and celebrities, I think it’s useful to create the same look but with low cost products.

Apart from make up do you like fashion?

Yes I love fashion, I follow fashion but at the same time I believe that everyone should be able to find her own style, if I don’t like something I won’t wear it, even if it’s trendy.

What do you think about fashion bloggers?

I follow some blogs, I think this activity is useful, especially the pictures reviews, they are easy to be consulted and a good guide before a possible purchase.

Bloggers or Gurus? Who’s better? Why?

It depends…the bloggers are better for the quickness and ease in finding informations, the gurus are better because it seems like your are in a face to face interaction, and they become kind of friends.

Do you know Martina from “The Glamour Marmalade”? What do you think about her style? Can you give her some beauty advices?

Yes, I know her,  she is very beautiful and stylish, I like her outfits, she is so cool! My suggestion is a nude makeup during the day, with beige matte eyeshadow, peach blush and lipstick, essential and chic! For the night I suggest a grey and black smoky eye and a nude blush and lipstick.

The interview is over, one last question, give us 3 words for the VERYSIMPLE F/W Collection?

Young, Fresh, Peppy!

Fashion history: Little Black Dress

The Little Black Dress, the perfect dress, that every woman should have in her closet, appeared in 1926 thanks to Coco Chanel, the best designer ever.
The French designer once said: “Fashion changes, but style stays. I just want to be copied, it would be the best evidence of my success”, as if she knew how irreplaceable her creation was. And she was right, the petite noir, with its 85 years, is still a unique dress.

The most famous little black dress, that made this garment so popular, was designed by Givenchy and worn by Audrey Hepburn in the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany”, and it’s been auctioned for 410.000 pounds.
Whether you like it with or without shoulder straps, with the neckline on the décolleté or on the back, the little black dress is appropriate for every occasion; for a business meeting or a romantic dinner, in the evening or through the day.

A statistic says the 96% of women have one in their wardrobe, what about you? Do you have your little black dress?
