Head to Head: Bloggers vs Gurus
Today we meet two different worlds.
We’re talking about bloggers, girls with a passion for fashion who love to give hints and suggestions about the latest trends showing their outfit photos, and YouTube gurus who share the same passion for fashion and beauty, but use videos as a communication channel. Some of them have become quite a sensation, today we’ll get to know these girls and their worlds.
Here’s our first head to head, we’ll find out more about Sarah, the blogger behind The Chic Neverland and Simonetta the guru from Simylicious…

LET’S START WITH SARAH BIANCHI FROM THE CHIC NEVERLAND:
Tell us about you, age, interests, why did you start a blog?
I’m 22 and since i was born in july I’m a Cancer, so, by desing, I’m lunatic and I quickly become attached. But these are just two facets. I was born in Milan, where I lived my childhood, but for the last 13 years my city have been Venice. I feel lucky for having the chance to live in these wonderful cities. I’m a junior architect, and I just started my architecture master. The idea to start a blog came natural after reading many blogs, a virtual world I discovered following my big passion for fashion. I felt the need to have my own place to gather what inspiers me, put to the test my taste for style and share it with whoever likes it.
When did your passion start?
There’s not a particular moment, it’s been a path. Since when I was child my interest in fashion magazines has been growing. Reading them made me happy, looking at all those photos of wonderful dresses and accessories made my mind wander thinking of all the occasions to wear them and all the possible combinations. When I discovered blogs was like a revelation, having everyday updates from many people with different styles it’s like reading hundreds of magazines everyday!
What are your others hobbies and passions?
Obviously architecture and everything linked to it, like design and art. I would need a 48 hours day for all my hobbies, there thousands thing I’d like to learn. One day I will try surfing. And I’d like to learn cooking, but I’ll probably end up eating everything i cook for my gluttony! I spend my spare time with my friends and my boyfriend, with whom i shared everything for 7 years now.
Your future plans?
Surely I’m gonna finish my studies, beside that I don’t know, I still have no plans for the future. Time will tell!
What’s your unrealized dream?
Right now my dream is to spend some time in the United States, a coast to coast trip on a pickup truck, with the wind blowing through my hair and no worries.
3 must-haves for this winter?
Here’s the fashion blogger question!
Let’s start with fur (obviously eco-friendly)! It can be a coat, a collar or just a detail in your clothes or even your bag, this winter you need to have fur in your wardrobe.
Another keyword is sparkle. There are a lot of shoes covered with glitters, lurex strings in the knitwear and silver and golden fabrics for pants and skirts. If you don’t feel like daring, you can still use just a little detail.
Least but not last python print, you have to be careful not to look kitschy. Maybe your ballet shoes or on your pochette.
What’s your favourite style?
I like very different styles, indeed I could fall in love with a pair of studded biker boots and buy a pochette with a ribbon right after. I mostly like looks with simple, clean lines but with refinement shapes, styles and acessories.
Who is the star or stylist that inspires you the most?
I can’t make only one name. I get inspired by a lot of things, it can be a streetstyle shoot ora a whole collection.
What does fashion means to you?
To me fashion is fun. If I didn’t have fun it wouldn’t be a passion but a duty.
What do you think about YouTube gurus?
I just recently found out the world of fashion youtubers and I like it. They have many things in common with the bloggers, but they use videos. Those who watch videos are even more engaged, it’s a nice diversion!
Bloggers or gurus, who’s better? Why?
There are some differences, you can’t say one it’s better than the other, surely there are good and bad bloggers and gurus. For what I care it’s not just about popularity, I appreciate the effort and the commitment to the project.
Do you know Simylicious? What do you think about her?
I reently discovered her, I looked at her channel and she’s really pretty. Videos make people feel closer to the gurus, Simylicious really puts her fans at ease. I don’t really know her, but I like what I’ve seen.
The interview is over, one last question, give us 3 words for the VERYSIMPLE F/W Collection?
First word I’d say is chic, a word that goes well with the style of my blog!
The second word is fresh, even being elegant the new collection is great for young gilrs like us who don’t wanna look too formal.
The last word is quality, I tried those products first hand and they have very good materials and finish.
INTERVIEW WITH SIMYLICIOUS:
Tell us about you, age, interests, why did you start a youtube channel?
Simylicious comes from Simi, a short name for Simonetta, my name. I’m 25 and i work in my family business. After following several makeup channels on YouTube and fashion blogs I decided to start my own channel to talk abuot fashion.
When did your passion start?
I can’t give a specific age, i think it’s always been inside me. As a child I used to dress with my mother’s dresses, when I was a teenage i used to dress my friends with my mother’s clothes and accessories and take photos of them.
What are your others hobbies and passions?
Beside fashion i love music, hip hop and r&b. It started when I was 5 with a Salt’n'Pepa cd I found at home; for some years I was in a hip hop class, now I don’t anymore, but I love dancing. Another big, but recent, passion is diving.
Your future plans?
I want to study fashion, an image consulting course.
Your lifelong dream?
To succeed in fashion.
3 must-haves for this winter?
You can’t miss a man garment, maybe a blazer you can use in different occasions. Wide legs pants to have a sophisticated and distinguished look and ankle boots with wedge heel, comfortable and perfet for those who don’t like high heels but don’t want to look ordinary.
What’s your favourite style?
Definitely bon ton style.
Who is the star or stylist that inspires you the most?
I like Olivia Palermo’s looks because their refined, unique but really easy to wear, customizing them with my own style. Most of the times I follow my instinct and my mood.
What does fashion means to you?
To me fashion is away to express yourself, to express who we are and how we feel. Looking at my outfits you can always tell how I feel that day. Fashion is freedom and creativity; in my videos I often suggest how to renew and reuse an old garment or accessory to give a personal touch the latest trends and don’t look like everyone else.
What do you think about fashion bloggers?
I think it’s a great to give tips and suggestions, making fashion more real, not just something for VIPs and top models.
Bloggers or gurus, who’s better? Why?
There’s no better or worse, thei’re just two different ways of communicating. It just depends on who is behind the screen. Someone likes videos with to talk others like photos and written words. I like them both, I’m also thinking about starting a blog.
Do you know Sarah from The Chic Neverland? What do you think about her?
Honestly I didn’t, I looked at her blog after this question. We have different style, but I like her.
The interview is over, one last question, give us 3 words for the VERYSIMPLE F/W Collection?
I’d go with joyful, romantic and glamour.
